What Causes Swollen Feet When Taking Diuretic For Headaches?

My 15 year old daughter s feet swell. She is an active person, but does not play sports. Her blood sugar does tend to get low if she hasn t had food in a while, and by low I mean 50. She is currently taking a diuretic for headaches, but I m not sure what the swollen feet mean.

Hello,

As for a small girl of age 15, I don't think diuretic will be advised. Because this may lead to loss of fluid and lead to headaches as there will be a fluid loss in the body.

For her having to swell in the feet you need to get a proper examination of the feet if there is any musculoskeletal injury. Also, kidney examination needs to be done as due to kidney malfunction there may be chances of swelling. I think a proper examination is to be done before putting her on to the diuretic.

For headache, I will advise getting the eye checked up as due to strain in the eye muscles there may be a headache symptoms.

I will advise doing complete blood and urine routine, get the kidney assessed, eye examined etc., for coming to a diagnosis and then the treatment part.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
