What Causes Swollen Ear Lobe In A Child?

my 2 year old has a swollen ear lobe. It is very red and due to the swelling sticks out from his head a lot. He has no fever and is playing as if no problem but it is sensitive to the touch. I have put some antihistamine on it thinking it might be an insect bite? What do you suggest?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per your history, it may be due to allergic reactions or dermatitis.

For that, you can apply hydrocortisone ointment locally. Give syp loratadine for itching.

Alternatively, you can apply Aloe Vera gel. Avoid allergens. Maintain proper hygiene. Avoid harsh cosmetic products.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
