A lot of abusers while injecting the drug accidentally injure their veins which complicates into thrombophlebitis. The severe acute onset pain, edema, redness and mild fever you are having is most likely due to thrombophlebitis. Try not to touch the arm again and again. Take OTC analgesics for pain and for reduction of inflammation. Apply ice over affected parts. Heparin containing creams like Thrombophobe when applied over affected areas result in reduction of local symptoms. If symptoms persist consult a doctor.
