What Causes Swollen Ankle After Spider Vein Treatment?

I had spider vein treatment with saline injections 3 days ago and my ankles are both swollen and ache. A couple of larger veins were treated there. Should I be concerned of a blood clot or other maladies at this time. I am wearing compression hose, but no isolated binding anywhere near this area.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

If both ankles are swollen and painful then a clot is less likely because it is not common for this to occur in both feet/legs at the same time.

The swelling and discomfort is likely due to the procedure but if you are uncomfortable then you may need to be reviewed by your doctor.

The use of anti inflammatory pain killers such as ibuprofen, cataflam or naproxen may help to relieve your discomfort.

I hope this helps
