What Causes Swollen And Painful Vein On The Top Of Ankle?

I had a fridge get dropped on my foot on thursday and hurt my ankle pretty bad. (never went to the doctor to get it checked on) I can barely walk on it and have a huge gash down the side of my foot. Well, today I noticed the vein the comes over the top of my ankle was enlarged and i started pressing it...and now (30 mins later) I have REALLY bad pain in the side of my leg (down by my calf) and I my chest has been hurting me. I took advil. What could it be?

Respected Sir, hi I evaluated your query.
It`s Hematoma formation following trauma to the foot.
Seems considerable clinically and should consult your family physician for definite management , but till that time you can :
* Apply ice to the affected part 3-4 times a day.
* Keep the affected ankle elevated over 2-3 pillows.
* Avoid excess standing in one place / bike riding if doing.
* Take analgesics temporarily.
* In our clinic we recommend Penicillin group of antibiotics and anti-
inflammatory agents after thorough assessment but as these are
prescribed drugs you have to get it from your family doctor.
