What Causes Swollen And Painful Toe?
My Husband s big toe has been swollen and purple for a week. We have tried soaking in hot water and peroxide, which provided relief from pain, and thought it might be an ingrown nail but ruled that out. It is painful and not related to an injury. Maybe a bite but not a visual bite spot. What do you think?

As you are saying only great toe is swollen and painful, if it's an insect bite it will be red associated with itching try antihistamines if it doesn't subside then get serum uric acid estimation done to rule out gout
