What Causes Swelling Up Of Finger After Blood Donation?

My daughter (16) had her finger pricked yesterday before donating blood to the red cross. It has been very sore and extremely swollen all day today. We have applied ice and she took ibuprophen. Any ideas on what could possibly be causing this swelling?

Rarely blood spreads in soft tissues around vein from which blood is withdrawn due to leaking.You should not worry .Your daughter shall be all write with in 3 to 5 days,continue ice packs and drug she is taking when ever she needs.
