What Causes Swelling Near Right Temple And Ear After Injury?

Hi I recently (4 days back) met with a bike accident (was the pillion) and fell on my right side. I did not lose consciousness but had swelling near my right temple and behind my ear. I have been having pain in my right eye when I try to look to my right side without moving my neck. Please suggest what needs to be done?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Since you are having pain in your eye, it is indicative of either some trauma to the eye directly or some trauma to the part of the brain that is responsible for sight. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP / Neurologist, get blood workouts and imaging (X-ray, CT, MRI) tests done to detect any bleeding, internal injury or fractures.

Your treating doctor may refer you to an eye specialist and ENT for ear examination and to check if your vision is affected. Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected and your clinical symptoms. In the meantime for swelling in the temple you can apply ointment Thrombophob, You can take acetaminophen, one SOS for pain.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
