What Causes Swelling In Wrist & Hands?

2 year old woke up with hair bands around her wrist. Hand is swollen, but she has full use of it. Have been watching iit for an hour or so and swelling still there. Starting to turn purple by her thumb but she has no pain and has full use. Should she be looked at or is it just bruising.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is due to congestion caused by blocked blood flow. You can wait for few hours for spontaneous recovery. Apply lukewarm compression for faster recovery. If symptoms persist better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
