What Causes Swelling In Tonsils As Soon As The Antibiotics Are Stopped?
Hi I have had tonsillitis twice over the last two weeks and my right glans will not seem to go down. I have had antibiotics twice a week course each time and it just starts to swell again as soon as i stop the antibiotics. Any ideas what may be causing this, and whats the best thing to remove the swelling?
Your history is indicative of a problem that needs proper clinical evaluation by an ENT surgeon. Investigations is the form of throat swab. Tests of blood for CBC, culture and sensitivity liver and kidney functions as routine. ENT Examination can tell the probable cause of your symptoms and can be different from what you think.
You may have to take a long course of an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory and such medications for symptomatic and supportive treatment. Povidone iodine gargles. Plenty of oral nutritious fluids. Complete the courses till cured and surgery if indicated by your Surgeon.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
