What Causes Swelling In Thyroid Gland?

I feel as though my thyroid glan may be swollen as I feel my throat is a bit uncomfortable when I swallow. I also sweat a great deal in my head, although it is very humid weather it seams worse in my head. When I feel my thyroid it appears a bit large to me. I am afraid because of past medical treatment I have not very much confidence in doctor so I have not been to a doctor for approx. 5 yrs.Thanks for your help

A swelling in the neck may be due to an enlarged thyroid gland, often called a goiter. It can consist of one (solitary) or more (multinodular) lumps or nodules or can affect the whole gland (diffuse enlargement)cause may be
1-Graves disease,
2-Hashimotoes thyroiditis,
3-Nodular goiter,
4-Cancerous goiter,
Consult your family doctor for physical examination,
Get blood test for Thyroid Profile,Sugar,Lipid Profile,
Have faith in your doctor,
