What Causes Swelling In The Uvula?

I am a 28 year old 145 lb. Mommy of 3. Recently went to see an ENT regarding a mishapen uvula-sticks out in sort of like a little ball, instead of hanging down. Dr. took a look and said I needed to have a biopsy. My deductible is $3000, apparently the procedure would cost about $300. I just cannot afford that right now. Not trying to sound like an idiot-I know these things are important, literally a financial issue only. Do you think he could be just recommending the easiest possible procedure...I am so sorry and hope I'm not offending anyone, just a little scared I guess. Health HX, relatively healthy I believe, no medication-tonsils out at age 16 and one d/c at age 23-miscarriage. Height:5'7"
