What Causes Swelling In The Upper Lip?

Since summer on and off my top lip swells, is red, and itchy. It appears chapped however nothing seems to help other than time. My dermo told me it might be a food allergy - at that time I was eating strawberries and tomatoes. I have not been eating those however have been drinking black berry tea... is it possible this is an allergic reaction or something different. I have not ever had this symptom before.

Hi,

As per your query about swelling, redness and itching in upper lip seems to be due to allergy to citrus or tarty food which are usually in fruits. Also avoid lip products containing various chemicals. Simple coconut oil or petroleum jelly should be used.Avoid citrus fruits..If there is severe itching or inflammation you should consult a dermatologist.

I hope this information helps you. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Jyoti Pandey
