What Causes Swelling In The Scrotum While On Doxycycline?

I have had a swelling in my scrotum for the second time in a year. My doctor has prescribed Doxycycline HYC 100 mg for two weeks. I started the antibiotic two days ago, but I have not seen any improvement so far in the swelling. Is this unusual? I feel feverish. Is this normal?

Hi,

Thanks for your query on HCM

I do understand your solicitousness

As per your clinical history is concerned your quandary is due to infection so as per present guidelines take doxycycline as customary but integrate ceftriaxone -250 mg IM as a single dose. For pain you can take Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen and paracetamol along with pantaprazole. You can give Scrotal support and elevation as well as sultry and cold compress for pain.

Hope that helps
