What Causes Swelling In The Right Foot?

Yes, my dad is 86. He has mixed dementia. He has homebased primary care. His right foot, ankle and leg up to the knee is swollen. Left leg is normal. He says it s been this way for 3-4 days. He is able to walk and says it is uncomfortable but not painful. I see no evidence of bug bite (spider, tick, etc.). Should I contact his primary care team to take a look at it?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

He can consult a general practitioner and get evaluated.

It may be due to some minor contusion or small fracture that might have developed following any trivial trauma. Other possibility is DVT.

As of now, apply ice packs and elevate affected foot over a pillow.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
