What Causes Swelling In The Lip Post Application Of A Wrinkle Cream?

I bought some oil of Olay neck and wrinkle cream and use it. One hour later my bottom lip on right side is swollen. Got some benadryl that I took two hours ago. Had headache earlier before lip issue and blood pressure is up to 148/75 versus normal 120/80. Do u think a little cream got on hands and cause issue with lip or reaction to cream?

Understanding your concern.

Brief Answer -Angioedema

As per your query you have symptoms of swelling in the lip post application of a wrinkle cream which is because of leakage of small blood vessels into surrounding tissues and causing swelling and allergic type reaction. It could be due to sudden changes in blood pressure as well.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to start with antihistaminic medications and anti inflammatory medications such as corticosteroids. Drink alot water and apply ice pops on lips. If you have breathing difficulty take Zantac. Your symptoms will relieve in 5-7 days. If your symptoms keeps on persisting visit general practitioner once and go for blood tests and allergy tests as to find the exact cause of allergy in you and prevent its usage. Take epinephrine shots as well.
