General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The residual swelling may indicate that the surgical area is still inflamed or may be a sign of infection that needs treatment. It would be best to be assessed by your doctor. If an infection is present then a course of antibiotics should clear it up.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
