Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had deems of the ankles and feet a few weeks now and it is not improving. I am on my feet most of the day as a teacher. My left foot swells more during the daytime. Both are okay in the morning but after 2 hours build up fluid again! I am about 3/4 stone overweight for my height-5 feet 7 inches. Can you recommend some advice. I am taking a low dose of HRT and am 58 yrs old
Sometimes swelling can indicate a problem such as heart, liver, or kidney disease. Ankles that swell in the evening could be a sign of retaining salt and water because of right-sided heart failure.
Gravity causes fluid to accumulate more in the feet and ankles, but fluid can also accumulate in the abdomen and chest.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Monish De, Oncologist
