What Causes Swelling In The Feet After Muscle Pull In The Calf?

Over the last few months, I ve pulled my calf muscle in both legs several times and for minimal reasons, like closing the trunk to my car (I m only 5 feet tall, so I have to pivot on my toes a bit) or standing on the couch. It keeps happening, one week I pull one calf muscle, then 2 weeks later, I pull the other. I ve also noticed that if I sit for long periods of time, my feet are a bit swollen. I feels like I m always on the verge of a cramp coming on... Any thoughts?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thanks for posting your query on HCM
I have read and understood your concern
The pain and swelling you describe are probably due to stress/strain on your calf muscles. I will advise you try the following:
-Avoid straining the legs for some time
-Elevate legs while lying
-Take a pain/anti-inflamatory drug like aceclofenac
If pains or swelling persist, you see the Doctor for examination.
Hope this will help. You may write back if more concerns
Best regards
