What Causes Swelling In The Feet After A Keyhole Surgery?

My mother had keyhole surgery to remove a ruptured appendix, she vomited a lot of bile for about three days and after a total of 8 days following surgery she is home recovering, her feet however have been swollen is there anything we can do to help her please
