What Causes Swelling In The Clitoris Area?

Hi, my clitoris area is swollen and its irritable. Also it itches and my left upper labia seems to be slightly swollen. When I close my legs, it begins to itch. I also have a thick white discharge. I went for a checkup and the tests came back negative for STDs. What is this and what is a remedy?

Hello,

Your symptoms are suggestive of possible yeast (candida) infection. Keep the area clean and dry. Wear breathable cotton undergarments. Apply Lotrimin antifungal ointment to affected area thrice daily for 14 days. If symptoms do not improve in 2 days, then follow up with your primary provider.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal, General & Family Physician
