Understanding your concern. As per your query you have swelling in salivary glands and painful swallowing. There can be many reasons for swelling in salivary glands like stone in gland or infection. A salivary gland infection occurs when a bacterial or viral infection affects the salivary gland or duct. The infection can result from reduced saliva flow or the blockage or inflammation of a salivary duct. Swallowing may be painful because of dry mouth. The condition is called sialadenitis. I would suggest you to consult oral surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan or ultrasound . Doctor may prescribe anti bacterial or anti viral depending up on the diagnosis. For now do warm saline rinses , drink plenty of water , suck on sugar free lemon candy and give warm compresses.
