Hi, I suffer from complex aphthosis and usually get canker like sores on my right labia a few days before my period and they are gone by the time my period finishes but for the last 3 periods I have not got any sores on my labia but instead my perineum has swollen and is terribly painful and lasts long after my period has finished? What would be the cause of this? I am not constipated and make sure to drink enough water.. Please help! !
These are called acute genital ulcers which can appear on the labia minora, major and the perineum. It can also spread to the other side which is called kissing ulcer. This needs a gynecologist consultation. We need to blood test to diagnose what kind of lesion as such whether it is due to infection or something else. This needs to be treated with analgesics and antibiotics. It depends on the severity of the lesion, we also need to decide whether it needs hospitalization or home treatment.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
