What Causes Swelling In Knees And Ankles After Withdrawal Of Lisinopril?
Hi, I recently stopped taking Lisinopril 5mg after about 2 years (ran out). It s been about a month. In the last 7-10 days I ve noticed marked swelling in both knees and ankles. Joints are becoming tender to the touch. Thigh pain and fatigue after minimal activity. Could this be directly related to the removal of Lisinopril?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have swelling in knees and ankles after withdrawal of Lisinopril . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like standing for prolonged periods of time , taking estrogen , antidepressants , blood pressure medications , steroids or NSAIDs , infection in the leg area , venous insufficiency , organ failure like heart , liver and kidney or lymphedema . I can also occur due to withdrawal effects of medicine . I would suggest you to consult cardiologist for proper diagnosis once again . Doctor may order heart tests like ECG and complete blood profile . Doctor may prescribe diuretic like frusamide . Doctor may also refer you to gastroenterologist in case of liver problem or nephrologist in case of kidney problems. Keep your legs elevated while lying down lower your salt consumption and avoid standing for long period .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
