What Causes Swelling In Knee While On Nivolumab For Renal Cell Carcinoma?

My Dad is on Nivolumab for stage four renal cell carcinoma. He has been on the drug since November 27, 2015. Had a great response in his 12 week scan. 50% reduction. No side effects at that time. Since then, he has developed very sore feet and some swelling in the knee. Difficult to walk with the pain. His one leg tonight is quite sore and hard to the touch. A little warm to the touch as well. What do you think? Ian Walker

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello Ian welcome to HealthcareMagic
Regarding your dad experience with swelling at his knees that is warm and tender to touch following treatment with nivolunab for stage 4 renal cell carcinoma I will suggest he has developed an osteoarthritis (inflammation of the knee joint)

In view of this please take the following Tablet arthrotec cerebrex cymbalta

If no improvement schedule an appointment with an orthopaedic specialist for expert management

I hope this helps Regards
