I am a 53 year old male who was diagnosed with a DVT behind my right knee on 2/2/10 by ultrasound. I had no trauma to the knee. I began taking Warfarin and Lovenex on that same day. I am now only taking Warfarin. I still have swelling in my foot and calf. My Dr said this was normal. When will I expect to see a change in the swelling? My job requires that I be on feet most of the day.
Hello and thanks you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein and I will try to help you as much as I can with my answer.
Being on feet definitely worsens the issue, but swelling may persist for months after DVT So you should be patient. Also wear elastic stocking, keep leg elevated and regulate body mass with exercise.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us. Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
