What Causes Swelling Behind The Front Teeth Along With Brown Spots?

Hi! Behind one of my bottom front teeth, the gum is swollen. I had a root canal on that tooth years ago. A few days ago I felt soreness on that tooth when I would bite down on something. At that time there was no swelling. It was just sore. The soreness is gone but there is swelling behind the tooth. It feels like a soft bump. It has been pale in color. Does not really hurt, I just feel it with my tongue constantly. Today I have pressed on it with my finger and now there are 2 brown spots on it. Could this be an infection? I feel perfectly fine, no pain, but don't want to ignore it in case it could be an infection.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to Health Care Magic Team.

Understanding your concern.
As you mention in your query that you had root canal treatment few days ago and you have swelling behind that tooth ,well this is commonly occurring condition in which infection persists even after root canal.

The condition can be resolved by taking antibiotic like amoxicillin course for for 5-7 days .If the condition still persists then you should again visit your dentist, who can have certain options like to redo RCT ,apicoectomy(surgically cleansing of root of tooth and removal of inflamed tissue). Maintain basic oral hygiene to prevent swelling of gums. Brush inner surface of anterior tooth properly to prevent plaque accumulation in that area.

Hope your concern has been resolved,
