What Causes Swelling Around The Left Clavicle And Shortness Of Breath?

I m 53, 5 7 and 380 lbs. I have swelling in left clavical area and shortness of breath. I have a 3 cm thyroid nodule and it is benign and should not be causing me any problems or that s what dr says. But everyone seems to ignore the swelling or tells me it isn t swollen--I can feel it and there is something wrong. Would an x-ray show anything? I feel swollen and in pain from behind my ear and down into my shoulder. My GP thinks I m crazy, the ENT I went to said nothing appears swollen to him, the endoctrinologist says she knows nothing about anything outside the thyroid. I feel like it s in this no man s place where my neck and my chest meet.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

When the symptoms are annoying, there can be underlying lesion such as lung tumor, bronchiectasis or so forth.

Primary evaluation with X-ray chest and later on according to the clinical progress, one may require CT scan or so forth.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel,
General Surgeon
