What Causes Swelling And Pain In The Wrists?

I am a 74 yr old white male. Symptoms = morning swelling & ache in wrists (especially left wrist) & some in hands & back of knees. Also pain especially in left shoulder @ joint & blade. Approx. 1 hr. after rising in AM the condition(s) begin to reduce & later through day decrease quite a bit but not totally. Blood tests for Lyme & Rheumatoid arthritis were neg., but Dr. has me on Doxycycline Hyclate 100mg 2/day for 30 days. Dr. has some doubts about accuracy of Lyme test. Have been on med for 6 days & have some improvement but not much. Also taking Meloxicam 15mg 1/day. end.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Consult an orthopedician and get evaluated.

Get an MRI scan for further assessment and to rule out conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome.

As of now, analgesics like Aceclofenac or Tramadol can be tried.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
General & Family Physician
