What Causes Swelling And Pain In The Upper Abdomen On The Left Side?

I have a strange feeling in my upper left stomach area...I had a MRI about 3 months ago and nothing showed . However, since then the kinked feeling I get paralyzes me for a moment when I bend over to tie my shoes. Now the area feels swollen, not tender but aches if I have been sitting too long. I am a healthy person with no illnesses other than neck and back stiffness from a wreck 30 yrs ago. My stomach is very large 42 although I m smaller everywhere else. I am non smoker, non drinker. This uncomfortable pain is getting worse. Could this be my spleen? Stomach? I m worried because I don t have a minute to myself as I work and taking care of my husband who has lung cancer. Please let me know what you think this could be.

Hello,

Cannot say in your particular case and without being there it is highly problematic to diagnose, treat or prescribe.

You start with what is there: stomach muscles, diaphragm, etc. And you go with what is commonly a problem, Hernias of the diaphragm (hiatal hernia) and hernias of the abdominal wall.

These are increased when there is increased pain in the abdomen (when bending over), more likely with a big stomach, it increases over time, there might not be anything to show from it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
