What Causes Swelling And Pain In The Stomach Post Stomach Flu?

My 4 year old son has just gotten over the stomach flu and has started eating and going to the bathroom as normal. He likes to drink milk and yesterday when I tried giving him food he said his stomach hurt. I thought maybe he had to use the bathroom or he didn t want to eat. He told me several more time times. When I took his shirt off his stomach was swollen, belly button was pushed out and was rock hard. It has almost gone back to normal today but wondering what it is from. I didn t think the mik can do that since he has drank milk everyday since he was little and no issues.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of swelling and pain in the stomach post stomach flu. Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to many other reasons like electrolyte imbalance, acute gastritis, viral infection or due to food intolerance. Need not to worry. Avoid intake of outside food. I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist for proper examination. Doctor will take history and order blood test. Doctor may prescribe antiviral drug like acyclovir for at least 5 days along with anti inflammatory and antipyretic medications. You should avoid intake of outside food. You should take oral rehydrating solution as well. For now do proper rest because rest is important in case of viral infection and apply warm compresses on body.
