What Causes Swelling And Oozing Of Yellow Pus Post Hip Surgery?

I had hip surgery 3 months ago. I have an infection there is a swelling on the hip that is hard. My Doctor kept thinking it was going to get better on his own. I am on antibiotics which have cause the site to get harder. We have to go back to surgery I am afraid tha too many errors was made in the beginning when two weeks after surgery it was drawing and yellow stuff ooze out. General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Infection can happen anywhere in the body following surgery. Ideally, it should subside by 2 weeks following antibiotic therapy.
It is not due to any error in the procedure which would have resulted in infection.
In your case, it appears that there could be a collection of pus at the infected site, which needs to be explored and drained. That is why your doctor has advised for procedure another time.
Following procedure, with medication, you should recover well and be back to normal.
Kindly follow what the doctor has advised.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
