What Causes Swelling And Itching Sensation In The Eyes?
All of a sudden a few hours ago, I was sitting at my desk at work and my eye started to itch very badly. it felt like something is my eye. My eye is swollen and has been tearing non stop since then. At times I could hardly see thru the tears. under my eye it is very swollen, still tearing and eye is red........should I try heat compress or ice? or what should I do.............thank you
Hi,I do understand your concern. As long as you don't have pain/any vision changes/light sensitivity in the affected eye,I would suggest you to
1.Start cold compresses. 2.Try not to rub your eye,and take a dose of OTC Oral anti-allergic tablet. 3.You can start of with OTC Lubricant eye drops 4 times a day. 4.But if you experience any irritation at a specific location while blinking, please make an appointment with the ophthalmologist/Optometrist.He/she can examine and make sure your eye is free of any dust particle (making you tear and cause allergic reaction)or an infection for which you might need a prescribed eye drops.
I have answered your question assuming that it has affected only one eye.If both your eyes are affected or notice vision changes ,start the above and get the earliest appointment. Hope this helps.Take care.
