What Causes Swelling And Itching In The Vagina?

I think I have a yeast infection, but I m on my period so its hard to tell. My vulva is super itchy and when I scratch it burns. It also burns when I urinate, because of the scratching. My vagina is also swollen and when I looked at the area it was extremely red and inflamed and there was also some discharge about the opening of my vagina. What do you think? Please help. (If it helps I m 14)

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

This condition is almost acute vaginitis from possible bacterial or fungal infection. Helpful tips to recover faster

@ keep genitals clean with antiseptic liquid
@ gentian violet sitz bath 2 times a day
@ avoid vaginal intercourse ( if active )
@ Antihistamine as cetirizine and analgesic as ibuprofen for primary pain relief
@ get prescription of antibiotic (as cephalosporin or penicillin) and antifungal (as fluconazole) from your GP to get faster recovery

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
