Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had very cracked chapped lips for the past 2 week. (never had like this before) This morning I woke up and my lips are swollen and they itch and burn. It looks like I had lip injections. I have been putting neosprin on them all day and it has not helped.
Well, swollen, itchy, cracked and dry painful lips can be due to Allergic reaction which can be due to any skin cosmetics like lip or face creams, any soap or detergent while any food or medication can also be a cause..
Dry mouth can also be a cause for the above symptoms..
I would suggest you to apply a thick coat of Petroleum jelly over the lips to lubricate the lips and it also help in locking moisture.. Do cool compresses over the lips.. You should drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration.. Take anti allergics like Levocetrizine.. I'm case of still there is no improvement consult an Oral Physician or Dermatologist and get evaluated..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
