What Causes Swelling And Blisters On The Lips After Taking Femara?

We are trying to conceive and my OB rx femara to help. I was suppose to take 8 pills all at once but only took 4 in fear of not being sure about this rx since its used in treating cancer too for some. I took this on Monday and was fine until Friday I woke up with swollen lips, blistery lips and rash over mouth, chin and cheeks. Do you believe this is a side effect from this femara I took from Monday?

Femara contain active ingredient Levotrizole and it helps in reducing estrogen levels in body..
It is used to treat estrogen levels in post-menopausal women who suffer from breast cancer to keep the estrogen levels low, so that tumor does not grow as estrogen facilitates tumor growth..

Levotrizole is also used in case of Infertility for correcting hormonal imbalance and thus it is advisable in fertility treatment..

So it is given to you for this reason, so you need not to worry about it..

As far as swelling, blisters and rashes on lips is concerned, it can be a delayed reaction to the drug while it can also be due to some other unknown allergens..

So the exact cause has to be ruled out by getting a blood test done before you can claim Femara to be a culprit..

I would therefore suggest you to get an Allergic test done..
As of now you can take anti allergics like Levocetrizine or benadryl after consulting your treating Gynaecologist..
Apply Calamine lotion or Caladryl lotion to soothe the skin..
Do cool compresses..
Avoid applying any skin cosmetics..
