What Causes Sudden Weight Loss?

I am a 43 year old male, have a very stressful job, problems with my marriage. I have always had aches and pains and neck and lower back pain. I have always have digestive problems, and can t eat greasy foods, or drink any kind of alcohol. For the past six to seven years, while living overseas in Asia, I put on about 30 pounds. I returned to the US six months ago, and put on some more weight. Then about a month ago I began losing weight, with no change in my routine or diet. In a month I have lost about 12 lbs, and my clothes are starting to hang on me. I have not done anything intentionally to lose weight.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Unintentional weight loss can sometimes problematic. If there is no change in diet and activity level then you need to consider seeing your doctor for an assessment.

This would need to include history of all symptoms, previous illness and medications.

After examination, blood test tests would be needed such as complete blood count, liver and kidney function tests, thyroid function tests (high thyroid hormones can cause weight loss), c reactive protein and ESR (these are inflammatory markers that would go up with any cancer, infection , allergy etc).

Imaging may or may not be needed depending on the examination findings.

I hope this helps
