What Causes Sudden Sharp Pain In The Left Side Of The Chest?
Hi I have been having sharp electric shock like pain shoot down the left side of my chest. It s extremely unnerving and uncomfortable. I feel it slight down my back at the same time and it last for all of 2 seconds, when it stops I m left with a pins a needles sensation and i feel like in going to have an anxiety attack with the fright it gives me. I am a very stressed person I am 24 years old with a heart murmur I ve had an ECG and an ECCO of the heart test and all came back fine apart from an irregular heart beat but I was told not to worry that was normal with the heart murmur. I was reading up on it online and I think it could an inflamed nerve, do you think this is possible? Or what should I do? It s been going on for weeks now and I think all the worrying will cause a bigger issue for me if I don t get some reassurance. Thanks.
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM. I can understand your situation and problem. Since your extensive cardiac work up is normal, no need to worry for cardiac cause. Thepain you are having is more suggestive of neuritic pain. So nerve inflammation or damage can be the cause. Get done vitamin b12 level. Because vitamin b12 deficiency can cause similar symptoms. If this is deficient then start supplement for b12. Also get done hemoglobin level and thyroid function test to rule out anemia and thyroid diseases, respectively.
