Hi there, I had this problem once. You feel like your heart beat is beating harder and like your chest is getting tight? Mine ended up being anxiety/panic attack. see doctor and tell him about it. he may prescribe some anti-anxiety medication.

Hi Doctor, I suddenly got the hiccups then with it, my heart started beating rapidly. It seemed like super fast regular heartbeats. Sometimes when I try and take a deep breath or when I breathe too quickly where the air in my chest feels trapped, my heartbeat will suddenly go from 60 beats to what seems 180 beats per minute. Any suggestions?

My pulse is currently 137 while resting. i do have lupus SLE and dilated cardiomyopathy. Taking Coralan and Concor. It is very uncomfortable and due to the rapid heartbeat I cant sleep. What can I do to bring the heart tempo down. I hate it when this happens. listens to nice classical music and reading a nice book don t help. Under normal sircumstances I do have a irregular heartbeat.

I had sudden onset of shortness of breath, rapid heart rate, intense fatigue, low grade fever all the time, night sweats, elevated blood pressure that started about 2 months ago. I am 62. No prior health conditions. Was in between doctors (my former doc of 20+ years had a stroke). Finally saw new doc this past week. He prescribed metoprolol while waiting for test results. He ordered an echocardiogram and full battery of blood tests. He said we needed to get a baseline? Tests in a couple of weeks and follow up in a month. My mother had CHF and presumably died from it. I hadn t considered this but now am a bit concerned. The past couple of days I have been coughing like crazy but thinking its sinus drainage. It is so bad when I am laying down. I hadn t realized how worn out I get from minimal activity. I m kinda worried now. Should I try to get in to see the doc sooner than a month from now?

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1997, had a mastectomy with no lymph node involvement. I had a recurrence in the chest wall in 1998 treated with surgery, radiation and tamoxifen. I have moved through Arimidexdex, FAC Chemotherapy, Aromasin, 6 cycles of Dosa Taxol plus Herceptin, Letrozole, and two years of Avastin and Xelodal. Since August, I have had weight loss, a persistent cough (with sputum, and light-headedness with one fainting spell. An October, 2010 Pet scan showed some cancer activity in a nodule in the lung and in the sternum. I have been on a drug holiday since November 2010, as my doctor tries to get results from a pulmonary function test. I have a colonoscopy scheduled for October 2011. My cough is getting worse, and yesterday I developed a pain in my mid rib-cage every time I cough.

Short term question: Is there some kind of cough suppression medicine I could take to prevent the pain of coughing?

Long term question:: Should I go somewhere like the Mayo Clinic to get an opinion my situation?

At the moment, my pulse rate is 48 and I am lightheaded. I take a beta blocker ( Nadolol ). My dosage had recently been increased, but it had become regulated. Should I be concerned right now or just wait to see if the lightheadedness subsides?
