What Causes Sudden Onset Of Spotting, Twinges In Ovaries And Cramping?

I ve recently had a visit from my 33 yr. old daughter, who is pregnant and she has confessed to me that she was using crystal meth. We have been estranged for 8 years. She has been off the meth for 2 yrs., but this info has really caused me severe stress. I am 66 years old and have not had a period in fourteen years. I ve had a very easy post menopause, with no spotting or hot flashes. But, today I am spotting. I m very concerned. Could it be caused from my emotions? I feel cramping and twinges in my ovaries. Thank you for your kind answer.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Bleeding after 6 years of menopause needs investigations. It can be sudden gush of hormones following severe psychological stress, non resolved fibroid, endometriosis or even malignancy. Please consult your gynecologist earliest to exclude serious cause.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
