What Causes Sudden Onset Of Pain In The Neck And Difficulty Breathing?

Hello, I am a 60 year old white woman. I came in from outside and sat down and a pain shot through my neck and it was very hard to breath. . .I held my chest and was so scared. I told my husband take me to the ER so we went and they did a chest XRAY, blood work, white cells mildly high, ekg fine they gave me three spritz of nitro, no help. I got a shot of demarol, and it helped. They gave me adavan and thought anxiety?? The next night it was worse and we went off to the bigger hospital, still thinking I was having a heartattack?? EKG off just mildly, white blood cells mildly elevated?? Nitro again, no help. Pain at 8. Ct scan and xray diagnosed with Plureisy?? Pardon my spelling. . . The only thing that has changed was I noticed a couple of days before all this I had a fever blister on my upper lip, and a real sore spot on my inner nose?? I feel like I can breath out but hard to breath in. I ve been running a low grade fever 99.9 The er said 600 mg ibuprofern and tramadol How long will this last?? Should I see my regular Doctor for antibiotics?? Also I ve experienced a bit of gas more so than before??

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

All your history is surely indicative of in inflammatory or infective pathology.
Hence I would advise you the following:
Consult your regular Physician to get started with an antibiotic and continue the anti-inflammatory that is Ibuprofen and painkiller Tramadol.
Get further investigations to find the cause of pleurisy.
Also get investigated the cause of pain in neck by X-ray and MRI and get treated accordingly if a specific cause is found.
You may then need additional treatment if a specific cause is found.
Take full bed rest for early recovery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant, General Surgeon
