What Causes Sudden Increase In Heart Rate?

Yesterday i was at the gym..not working out or anything just watching my fiance work out then all of a sudden my heart starts racing so hard you could literally see my chest moving so fast. My chest felt tight and i felt faint. It lasted about 10 min then just went away. This is not the first time this has happened and i am only 23. I have had blood work and test done, however nothing ever comes of it. Im really worried. What could this be?

Hi,

Increased heart rate is commonly seen in case of thyroid dysfunctions. It can be due to sinus tachycardia or arrhythmia.

It gets triggered in anaemia, anxiety, stress, certain medications, drugs & some medical conditions, congenital cardiac problems.

Hearts rhythm may be normal or abnormal when you may experience palpitations.

Normally heart beats 60-100 beats/min. If it beats below 60/min it is called bradycardia & if it beats above 100/min its tachycardia.

In either case you should get treated. You are recommended to visit ER, get evaluated & get CBC, Urinalysis, Lipid function test, ECG, Echo, Stress tests are done to rule out any developing pathology & get treated at the earliest.

In the meantime stay away from addictions if any, do regular exercises & avoid oily, fatty junk food.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
