What Causes Sudden Dizziness In A Child After A Minor Fall?

13 month old fell of couch onto head and his neck bent as his body followed before landing on his back. He cried right away and then seemed as if he would pass out for a few seconds then was completely quiet and still. He soon started smiling again and is walking, playing and making all his usual movements and sounds. Should I be worried at all? He didn t hit his head hard but the rolling and neck bending has me worried.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thanks for your query
Immediate loss of consciousness was due to the impact and brain response to such.Even though he is fine now, a pediatric consultation is important since such impacts predispose kids to convultions.Your pediatrician will judge the need for a brain scan to exclude an epidural hematoma since it is one of the causes of immediate loss of consciousness after an impact on head.He may not need medications if no problem found at examination.
Hope my answer will help you
