What Causes Sudden Breathlessness During Pregnancy?

i am currently 36 weeks pregnant and i occasionally (maybe once every few months or so) wake up very suddenly unable to breath, feels like suffocation i have to gasp for air to breath. it really worries me that it deprives my baby from air too. please help!

hi,dont worry its common in pregnancy as the gravid uterus pushes the diaphragm up decreasing the lung spaces and also there occurs vena caval compresion on lying straight hence breathlessness.the best way is not to sleep straight but to sleep on the left lateral position.this will ease u from suffocation.take care and all the best.
