What Causes Sudden Body Tremors At Night?

I have been experiencing mild sudden tremors at night after I lay down and start to go to sleep. I have been having shaking of my jaw as if I had a chill. These have been increasing in episodes and shivering. This has been going on for a few months.

Hi,

It is obvious you will need proper examination and check up to find the cause of this since it is lasting for so long. Please make sure you check your temperature when you have these shaking episodes, just to make sure if you have a temperature or not. If you have temperature 37.5°C or above this may show a chronic infection or other chronic condition.

If your fever is under 37.5°C then you will need to have a general check with a thorough physical examination by your doctor and with blood tests and other examinations like:
- CBC and ERS
- ALT, AST, bilirubin
- creatinine and electrolytes
- TSH
- FBS and lipids
- Urinalysis
- Tests to rule out certain infections
- A chest X-ray
- EEG

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Zotaj Antoneta,
