Hello and thank you for asking HCM.

I have read your symptoms and I understand your concerns. We will try to find a solution. All IUD (FDA approved period) have recommended periods for device removal and depending from the type of IUD it might be after 3 or even 10 years. After this period is passed depending from the type of device, those can't stop being pregnant any more. Side effects after this time are the same in most of the times as the ones at your first year of usage of the IUD. When ever you can you need to remove it just to be safe.

Now according at your symptom abour the odor of the urine it might even be an urinary tract infection. (It would be great if you explaine more about your urinary problem, color of the urine, if there is parts of cloated blood ect).
So i suggest as follows.
-Do a home urine test, a dipstick test kit that you can get without the need of a prescription. If its result is positive for an infection you need to check up with your physivian to take the prescription with anyibiotics.
-also have plenty of liquids to clean your urine
-cranberry juice or orange juice is great
-rose tea or chamomile tea,1-2 cups each day
-urinate always after having sex

If your urine test is negative and your symptoms don't vanish even after the advices that i gave, than you need to check up with a urologyst.

If you have any other question feel free to ask me.
