What Causes Strong Odor In Urine Of A Teenager?

My little sister just turnt 16 and for a week or a little over she has been having problems with her urine smelling like vomit, a very strong smell, her period started about 3 days ago but the smell started almost a week or so before, she has also had prior problems with her urine having a sweet smell, what could be causing this odor?

Hi...Can understand your concern...As per your query about getting strong odour in urine of your sister seems to be a recurrent infection of urinary tract as it happened earlier also...I suggest you to get her urine culture and sensitivity test done..Antibiotics like Norfloxacin can be helpful but it will be better to have investigation done first for going to right choice of antibiotics by consulting a physician or a urologist..I advice you to drink plenty of liquids and juices specially cranberry juice..Avoid using toilets at public places to avoid recurring infection...I hope the information helps you.Take care.
