What Causes Strong Metallic Taste, Weight Loss And Fatigue?

About a month ago my mother-in-law developed a very bad sore throat. When it wouldn t go away, she went in for a strep test and it came back negative. The sore throat eventually went away, but now she had a very strong metallic taste when she eats. She can only eat a few bites of food a day and struggles to get a few sips of water down. This has been going on for about 4 weeks now and she has lost LOTS of weight. She is very fatigued and is out of breath going up stairs. She went to the Dr. twice and all she knows is that she is only slightly anemic (11.1).
