Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, my name is Amanda, I am 22 years old. Through out the years I have had crypts on my tonsils. they said it was nothing major. Over time they seemed to loose their normal shape, and now, the past few days iv picked up a few symptoms such as runny and congested nose. my throat has been sensitive but not sore. It s making me feel really blah and not wanting to do anything. Almost like a common cold with a few sneezes. All day today something has been bothering the back of my throat. Almost as if I had a popcorn kernel sell sitting on my tonsil. I take a flashlight and finally look and there is a stringy growth thats come from my tonsil. I gargled with peroxide and mouthwash. Then taking a peroxide dipped q-tip I was finally able to remove whatever it was. it look like it had a small root on the end of it. Very creepy! Can someone help me please figure out whats going on? am I catching something and need a doctor? should I take this specimen to the doctor? Thanks for your help!
Hello Amanda, It seems from your symptoms that you are having chronic tonsillo-pharyngitis. So i suggest you to continue the peroxide gargle twice or thrice daily along with some anti-inflammatory drugs containing aceclofenac and serratiopeptidase. If you have fever, taking an antibiotic like azithromycin ll help to control the infection. you should also try to collect the swab and have a culture and sensitivity test done along with a complete blood count.
It's better to consult with an ENT specialist once you are done with all your tests.
