What Causes Stomach Swelling And Soreness?

Hi, I had a TVH, anterior and posterior repair, transvaginal tape and episiotomy repair nearly 6 weeks ago. I was feeling ok as I have been taking it quite easy for a while.....however, as a mother of five and a husband that is working away...oh and living in a country where I have NO family to help.....I started to do a little more than usual. Infact I have changed around two of my sons bedrooms as well as the usual, vacuuming, cleaning, cooking etc!!! The only thing I m not doing is driving!! For a few days now I have noticed that my tummy feels strange, almost sore...not from the outside but the inside. Also yesterday I noticed that it is swollen. I am not bleeding and I m not in pain, it just feels sore. Could I have done some damage?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history about TVH with repair of anterior and posterior prolapse, episiotomy repairs 6 weeks ago but started working household work and have now developed feeling strangeness in tummy, almost sore from within, and noticed swelling:
This may be due to an inflammation within the abdomen or may have had healing problems to develop adhesion and so on.
I would advise you the following:
Report to ER to have clinical evaluation, examination, investigations of X-ray of abdomen in standing position, ultrasonography to see whether there are signs of intestinal obstruction.
Conservative management for a few days otherwise may need surgery if the signs of obstruction or any other complications are suspected.
Take rest, you have to manage anyway. Stop doing anything which is a touch and heavy job.
